My Story

Hi, I am Dr. Evans, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) holding dual board certifications as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (GNP-BC). My nursing journey began in 1993 as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the U.S. Army, where I served my country for eight years. Following my military service, I pursued an Associate's Degree in Nursing as a Registered Nurse at Pearl River Community College, laying the foundation for my academic pursuits.

In 2005, I achieved a significant milestone by completing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Phoenix. Undeterred by challenges, I continued my pursuit of knowledge, earning a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Alabama in 2009. Recognizing the importance of geriatric care, I further enhanced my expertise by obtaining a post-master's Certificate as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner in 2010.

A commitment to advancing the field of nursing led me to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2015, reflecting my dedication to staying at the forefront of healthcare practices and contributing to the evolving landscape of nursing.

In 2017, I expanded my skill set by completing certification for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy (TMS) at the Medical University of South Carolina. This additional certification demonstrates my commitment to incorporating innovative and effective therapeutic modalities into my practice.

With over 31 years of experience across various healthcare settings, including Oncology, Geriatrics, Medical/Surgical, ICU, Orthopedics, Emergency Room, Urology, Radiation Oncology, Hospice, Adolescent Psychiatric Units, and Nursing Homes, I have honed my skills in providing safe and effective patient care. My expertise in medication management, supportive psychotherapy, and case management reflects a holistic approach to mental health and wellness.

I firmly believe in the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and soul in achieving overall well-being. My patient-centered philosophy is evident in my commitment to walking alongside individuals on their journey to balance both mental and physical health. Through more than three decades of dedicated service, I continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those I serve, embodying the highest standards of excellence in nursing practice.

My foundations and ethical beliefs serve as the guiding principles that have shaped my approach to healthcare. Nurturing, cultivating, and promoting human well-being are at the core of my practice, where I extend kindness, compassion, empathy, and humility to everyone who walks through my doors.

As a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, my passion lies in assisting others on their journey toward total mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. Specializing in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, including people of color, women with low socioeconomic status, veterans, and the elderly, I am committed to providing tailored and compassionate care to each individual under my care.

Witnessing the genuine happiness, laughter, and motivation of my patients is immensely gratifying. It fuels my dedication to making a positive impact on their lives and contributing to their overall well-being.

In delivering patient care, I adhere to a philosophy grounded in evidence-based practices and theoretical knowledge to achieve optimal wellness. My holistic approach recognizes the interconnectedness of various facets of an individual, treating them as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms.

I consider myself an advocate for my patients, striving to empower them and help maintain balance in their lives. By integrating a comprehensive understanding of mental, physical, and spiritual aspects, I aim to support individuals in achieving a harmonious and fulfilling life.

My commitment to holistic care and advocacy underscores my belief in the importance of addressing the diverse needs of each patient and fostering an environment where they can thrive.
